About this deal

It's not a stunning picture quality improvement worth ranking with modern films or a completely restored film classic but when one considers the fact that Friends is a newly remastered 90's television sitcom it feels difficult to not appreciate the newly remastered presentation and it actually seems hard to overlook the limitations of the source material (which is something I would suggest considering in this equation as well).

Friends: The Complete Series [Blu-ray] [2002] [1994] [Region

Friends depicts the highs and lows, friendships, romances, and careers of the six friends, who are often seen struggling with money or love, but who are always there for each other. Audio Commentaries – Commentaries for "The One Where No One's Ready", "The One With The Football", and "The One the Morning After" with Bright, Kaufman, and Crane. Art director John Shaffner also participates on "The One With The Football". These commentaries set up the template for the commentaries throughout the rest of the set, with each participant recorded separately. Crane mainly talks about writing, characters, and arc, Bright mainly talks about the logistics of shooting, and Kaufman usually tells anecdotes or just laughs at the jokes. In this set, we learn that the football park was built in a studio, and that Lisa Kudrow actually flashed people during that episode.

Side guide

What's Up with Your Friends? (SD, 9 minutes): Brief montages highlighting the friends and other characters. What's Up With Your Friends? are brief montages of the characters and each section features clips highlighting the various seasons. The One that Goes Behind the Scenes (SD, 42 minutes): The first real must-see special feature, this lengthy Discovery Channel documentary is easily the best extra available on the first ten discs and, after so many shallow clip montages, a genuine relief from the monotony. Candid and extensive, a variety of interviews with the cast and crew are intercut with fly-on-the-wall prep and production footage. But it's when the cameras go inside the writer's room, into the cast rehearsals and onto the stage in front of a live studio audience that the documentary really takes off. It's all a bit dated, I'll admit, and it focuses on Season Six episodes rather than much from Season Five. That doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable, though. Don't skip past this one assuming it's as trite as some of the supplemental drivel from the first four seasons. I hope there are other diehard fans out there who notice this stuff!! I'm not sure if there's already been posts about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Friends on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (SD, 22 minutes): Jay sits down with Schwimmer, LeBlanc and Matthew Perry (in Central Perk no less) moments after the actors watched the final episode for the first time. A few minutes later, he invites Aniston, Kudrow and Courtney Cox into the spotlight. Finally, with six minutes to spare, the entire cast shares the stage. I've been a huge friends fan my entire life and own the dvd series 1-10, so before friends was even on Netflix I had probably watched each ep at least 5 times on the dvds. Anyone who has done the same (or remembers it airing), are you bothered by the shortened episodes on Netflix? They cut out so much dialogue each ep that is SO glaring to me, and it makes me sad for new friends fans that they will never see the full jokes and are missing out on so much. Audio Commentaries – Commentaries for "The One with the Late Thanksgiving", "The One Where the Stripper Cries", and "The Last One with Bright, Kaufman, and Crane. "The Last One" gets understandably emotional, with Marta Kauffman totally unable to keep it together starting about halfway through. The Ones with More Friends (SD, 111 minutes): Four original broadcast super-sized episodes are included as bonus features, albeit in standard definition with Dolby Digital 2.0 audio: "The One Where Rosita Dies," "The One Where They All Turn Thirty," "The One with Joey's New Brain" and "The One with the Truth About London." Friends' on Location in London (SD, 2 min) – The finale of season four takes place in London, and this featurette briefly looks at the logistics of that decision. Friends Around the World (SD, 8 minutes): The world loves Friends apparently. See international audiences react, go inside foreign studios to see episodes dubbed in different languages, and learn about challenges associated with episode translations. Season 3: The One Where No One's Ready, The One With the Football (featuring Art Director John Shaffner), The One the Morning After
